In Matthew 19:14, Jesus commands the disciples:

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

These small members of our church family are very precious to TUMC, as they are to Christ. It is our desire to give your child the same love and care as they would receive at home. We want their worship time with us to be safe, warm, and secure.

Childcare is provided every Sunday morning from 8:30 am – 12:15 pm. Reservations are not necessary for Sunday morning worship services or Sunday School, though reservations are required in advance for all other church activities. If you want to know if childcare is available at a particular event, contact Lauren Price at 797-9890 or Childcare is available for children ages infant – 5th grade unless otherwise noted for the particular event.

TUMC and Childcare Council

The TUMC Nursery and Childcare Council was established in 2000 to provide ministry to children, parents, and childcare staff. The Nursery and Childcare council is comprised of TUMC members serving a two year rotation. The council meets on a monthly basis to implement and provide enrichment for children, parents, and childcare staff.

Safety and Security Procedures

The Nursery and Childcare Council has developed and implemented childcare safety and security procedures. The procedures are in place primarily to ensure the children are safe and to facilitate the drop-off and pick-up process in order to make the transition easier for the children. For this reason, parents are not allowed in the childcare rooms. At the time of drop-off, pagers are available for parents to temporarily checkout should they feel they may need to be contacted. Also, when children are dropped off in the nursery, toddlers and 2’s classes, TUMC asks that a sticker be completed for each child. Finally, a sign-in sheet is provided. Items asked for are as follows:

•Pager Number (should one be checked out)
•Child’s Name
•Parent’s Name
•Special Instructions (nap, allergies, etc)

Accident or Illness Procedures

The TUMC Nursery and Childcare Council has worked with the childcare staff to implement accident and illness procedures. These procedures are in place to properly document and notify parents of a serious accident or illness that may occur. Accident and illness procedures are implemented as deemed necessary by childcare providers. Paperwork documenting the incident is completed and provided to the parents when they pick up their child. This paperwork is also filed in TUMC’s records.  Please be assured that parents will be contacted immediately should a child have an accident that causes a more serious injury. This will be determined on a case-by-case basis by trained childcare workers at the time of the incident.
